Optimum Nutrition Amino Energy Review

Taste: 10/10

One the best tasting pre/intra/post workout supplement that I have ever tried. It dissolves easily and leaves no bitter after-taste. It’s a perfect combination of an amino mix. Two scoops in about 10-12 oz of water and you are good to go. All the flavors taste good but I prefer fruit punch, definitely one of the best fruit punch flavors out there today.

Mixability: 10/10

The powder is super fine, mixes easily in a plain water bottle after 10 seconds. No settling, no particles, no clumps. Mix two scopes which is one serving with 10-12 oz of cold water, shake it and you are good to go.

Profile: 9/10

Amino is a pre/intra/post workout supplement. It’s a combination of several free form amino acids and essential amino acids including BCAAs. It’s not just the BCAA’s though but also some other essential aminos. Not only does it have aminos but also caffeine courtesy of our green tea extract source which I like. Very solid nutrition source. Also only 10 calories.

Price: 7/10

The price is very reasonable. It’s priced competitively to be evenly matched with other intra and post workout supplements such as Intrabolic, Intra-Aid, Xtend, etc…

Energy: 9/10

I’ve used this several times during my workouts and you can certainly feel the little kick of caffeine helping you along. I notice it mainly in the middle of my workouts and feel that I have still more energy to go for more sets. There isn’t enough caffeine to crack you out like some products, but to have this little extra in your intra, in addition to the couple extra carbs is a real bonus. This stuff really put me in the zone.

Pump: 9/10

Amino Energy is mainly considered an energy product. So I figured I wouldn’t get much of a pump considering its called Essential Amino ENERGY. But this product provided one of the best pumps I have ever experienced and I have tried several different pre workouts. I was blown up and the pump lasted for 2+ hours. I started to feel the pumps especially in the middle of my workouts. Depending on how much you use, the effects are very noticeable.

Overall: 9/10

Overall I like this product a lot. Great tasting, great mixing, a well formulated and competitively priced drink mix. I’ve used this at work, at home when needing an after-work pick-me-up, immediately upon waking. This isn’t just a pre-workout supplement, it also an intra and post workout supplement. I highly recommend this.
